Armstrong

Armstrong provides high-quality and sustainable interior solutions:
Innovative ceiling systems in mineral, metal and wood

Armstrong is constantly aware of our ‘footprint’, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability. As a result, Armstrong has developed many initiatives. We started recycling materials about 150 years ago when we made linoleum from cork waste. Since the foundation of Armstrong, doing business in an environmentally responsible manner has been a pillar of the vision and policy of the company. All our plants have an environmental management system that is certified in accordance with ISO 14001. This includes the careful selection of raw materials, manufacture of products containing up to 82% recycled content, re-use of process water and efficiently organised production facilities for the reduction of energy and CO2 emissions. All this contributes primarily to sustainable production.
Armstrong considers all environmental aspects. For example, we keep the transport of our products from plant to customer and from supplier to plant as short as possible. Since 1999, thanks to our ceiling recycling programme, we have recycled thousands of tonnes of construction waste for new production and, together with our customers, reduced packaging to a minimum. Armstrong ceilings are 100% recyclable.
Moreover, we have developed various products to promote sustainability. A good example of this is the Tierra,  ceiling panels with a natural BioAcousticâ„¢ substrate
made from plants that grow from seed to harvest in just 100 days, making Tierra 44% rapidly renewable. Tierra is available only on  the American market and is a certified Cradle-to-Cradle silver product.

With our latest technological product developments, such as the OP series, the indoor environment quality plays a prominent role.
•    Manufactured  with a higher density for excellent sound absorption and attenuation.
•    Optimal energy savings in buildings.
•    Do not allow dust particles to permeate through the tiles,
•    Can counteract micro-organisms and are easy to clean
•    Savings on maintenance and air quality
Energy saving is also increased by the high light reflectance of our ceilings, so that daylight can penetrate deep into buildings and less lighting is needed. Thanks to their excellent sound attenuation and absorption and light reflectance, our ceilings contribute to a comfortable atmosphere with lower energy costs.

Besides the Cradle-to-Cradle initiative, Armstrong also actively supports various project accreditation programmes such as BREEAM. With its score of 0.1 Ecopoints, Armstrong products qualify for an  ‘A+’ rating in the Green Guide to Specification. As a member of the Dutch Green Building Council, Armstrong supports BREEAM-NL.

Between us, ideas become reality. That is our ambition!
