The building’s numerous sustainable measures in energy, water, materials and waste have led to the highest standards of Cradle to Cradle application in the working environment. The hot and cold storage system, the incorporation of Slimline flooring, the concrete core activation, the atrium’s solar panels, the intelligent technical systems and high performance glass all ensure an exceptional energy efficient building.
A very special part of the building is the atrium which houses the largest indoor green wall in the Netherlands providing natural ventilation and purifies the air.
A grey water treatment system and green roofs (50%) ensure sustainable water management.
The materials are entirely sustainable, non-toxic, recyclable and as Cradle to cradle as possible. Twenty-six non certified Cradle to Cradle products were taken and extensively tested by MBDC, from these a choice was then made and in cooperation with the material suppliers it was agreed to achieve the most optimal Cradle to Cradle building.
The layout of the building is designed in accordance to ‘’Het Nieuwe Werken” (The New Way of Working model), with various work places including quiet areas, flex-office places, inspiration areas and separate conference rooms with high tech IT support.
William McDonough considers BSH as an example of how buildings of the future should look. Coert Zachariasse, CEO Delta Development Groep and spokesman for Park 20|20 CV, agrees and is pleased to see the ambitions become a reality, he states: “The close collaboration with BSH’s project team has led to a building of which we can be proud and one that reflects the fine ambition of Park 20|20. The result exceeds expectations and that makes BSH the perfect showcase for our park. We see clearly that the combination of sustainability, healthy and an inspirational working environment meets the current needs of the customer and the concept fits within an attractive economic framework both in the short and long term.”
